 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Bill to Create Ogoja State from Cross River Passes Second Reading


The House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill for the second reading, proposing an amendment to the 1999 Constitution to create a new state in Nigeria's South-South region, to be called Ogoja State.


Sponsored by Hon. Godwin Offiono and three others, the bill aims to establish Ogoja State from Cross River. After a voice vote, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas referred the bill to the committee on constitutional review for further consideration.
