 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  Former First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond dies at 69


The pro-independence politician, who led the Scottish National Party between 2004 and 2014, died after giving a speech in North Macedonia.


Salmond, who led the Scottish Nationalist Party between 1990 and 2000 and then again between 2004 and 2014, was a prominent figure in the country's nationalist movement.

The second time around he used his mandate as first minister to hold a referendum on Scottish independence in 2014.

The "Yes Scotland" campaign was defeated and he resigned as a result.


In recent years he had split with his former party and set up Alba, a new pro-independence party.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
