 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville.  Jimmy Carter, 100, Casts Ballot For Kamala Harris In 2024 Election


Jimmy Carter  voted by mail today in the 2024 presidential election, fulfilling a goal as he remains in hospice care and passed his 100th birthday earlier this month.

A spokesperson for the Carter Center confirmed that the former president cast his ballot, but provided no other details.

The ballot was put in a drop box at the Sumter County Courthouse near Plains, GA, where he lives.

Jason Carter, his grandson, told ABC News this week that the former president planned to vote for Kamala Harris.Jason Carter had said during the summer that his grandfather had a goal of living long enough to vote for Harris.


Carter’s son, Chip, told Atlanta Journal Constitution that his father “absolutely” voted for Harris. His wife, Becky, dropped off the ballot at the dropbox.


Carter’s three Democratic successors — Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden — have been campaigning for Harris. Clinton, Obama and Biden today were attending the funeral of Ethel Kennedy at Washington’s Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle.


Carter became the longest living U.S. president on March 22, 2019, when he was 94. He celebrated his 100th birthday on Oct. 1.
