 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. JOHESU declares seven-day strike


Members of the Joint Health Sector Unions and Assembly of Health Care Professionals have declared a seven-day warning strike, commencing from midnight on Friday (today).


Addressing journalists in Abuja, the national chairman of the Union, Kabiru Minijibir, listed some of its demands to include the immediate implementation of the consolidated health salary structure, payment of a twenty-five per cent review of its arrears from June to December 2023, upward review of retirement age for health workers, tax waiver on healthcare workers allowances, and the immediate payment of COVID-19 inducement hazard allowance among other demands.


The latest strike comes after a fifteen-day notice of industrial action issued to the Federal Government.
