 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali.  Kwara Govt Distributes Cheques for Solar-Powered Boreholes, Toilets in 20 Communities


As part of the recommendations from the Kwara Community-Based Organisations (CBOs) summit, organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Community Development to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Community Project Management Committees (CPMCs) have received cheques for the construction of 20 solar-powered motorized boreholes and 20 toilets across the state.


This was shared via the social media pages of Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, the SSA on Community Development to the Governor, and was obtained by Just Event Online TV on Friday.


The 20 benefiting communities, spanning all 16 Local Government Areas, include Makebe, Idi-Ose, Aribidesi, Gaa-Mudi, Taiwo, Aboki, Balogun, Osunte, Apado, Ganmo, Areyi, Oke-Oyi Isin, Idi-Ogede, Illofa, Etan, Onisapa, Rokogi, Pakata, Oke-Suna, Kulende, and Idofin-Igbanna.


The projects were initiated in partnership with the Kwara State Community and Social Development Agency (KWASCDA) and the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASSA).
