 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1. LAGOS KICKS OFF AI, DIGITAL TRAINING FOR STUDENTS IN STATE TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS. (PHOTO). #PRESS RELEASE


 The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, is set to commence the second phase of the Digital Capabilities Skills for students of the state tertiary institutions.


This is in continuation of efforts to enhance digital skills and position the students of the state-owned tertiary institutions for jobs in the  ever-challenging and dynamic environment, 


Speaking on the initiative on Monday, the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hon. Tolani Sule said the programme is aimed at equipping over One million young people in the state with the requisite digital skills by 2030 to make them more employable, expanding the horizon of their opportunities and capabilities.


According to him, the programme is tagged: “Maximising the Transforming Capabilities of Artificial Intelligence in the 21st Century Work Place” and will feature training in entrepreneurial skills development alongside core digital skills training using technology and tools in critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving.


He further stated that the programme would offer a welcome departure from the conventional rote-based learning, which young graduates find difficult to translate into meaningful skills that make it difficult for young graduates to be considered employable in a rapidly evolving world of employment.


The three-week programme will commence on 26th October 2024 to 12th November 2024 and will be attended by a cross-section of industry experts from notable sectors of the economy including captains of industry. The Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Lagos State College of Health Technology (LASCOHET) and Lagos State College of Nursing (LASCON) are participating institutions. 


The programme is expected to match some of the best in terms of outcomes in digital skills capabilities planning while offering a wider scope of employment possibilities for young graduates from the Lagos state-owned tertiary institutions
