 Road accident claims life of wheelbarrow pusher in Lagos


A tragic accident occurred on Thursday along Union Road by Cement Bus Stop, Dopemu, Lagos, leading to the death of a wheelbarrow pusher.

The accident was caused by a commercial LT bus with registration number EPE 474 YJ, which lost control due to excessive speeding and collided with a construction crane positioned at the roadside.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Officers were swiftly on the scene, coordinating emergency efforts and securing the area.

The impact of the crash led to the immediate fatality of a roadside wheelbarrow pusher, whose body was later handed over to security men from Afonja Police Station along with the deceased, the severely damaged LT bus was also transferred to the police for further examination.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the deceased, and we urge motorists to always prioritize safety by adhering to speed limits and maintaining control of their vehicles to avoid preventable tragedies,” said LASTMA in a statement by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.
