 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  Road accident claims life of wheelbarrow pusher in Lagos


A tragic accident occurred on Thursday along Union Road by Cement Bus Stop, Dopemu, Lagos, leading to the death of a wheelbarrow pusher.

The accident was caused by a commercial LT bus with registration number EPE 474 YJ, which lost control due to excessive speeding and collided with a construction crane positioned at the roadside.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) Officers were swiftly on the scene, coordinating emergency efforts and securing the area.

The impact of the crash led to the immediate fatality of a roadside wheelbarrow pusher, whose body was later handed over to security men from Afonja Police Station along with the deceased, the severely damaged LT bus was also transferred to the police for further examination.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family of the deceased, and we urge motorists to always prioritize safety by adhering to speed limits and maintaining control of their vehicles to avoid preventable tragedies,” said LASTMA in a statement by its Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Adebayo Taofiq.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
