 Russian forces to stay in Mali to fight terrorism: Kremlin The Kremlin said on Thursday that Russian forces would stay in Mali to help the country's government battle terrorists following an offensive over the weekend by Tuareg-led separatists and terrorists. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov made the statement after being asked by a reporter how Russia responded to a purported statement from the terrorists saying they wanted Russia to leave Mali. "Russia's presence there is, in fact, due to the need identified by the current government. Russia will continue, including in Mali, to combat extremism, terrorism and other harmful phenomena and will continue to provide assistance to the current government," said Peskov, AFP reported. The Russian Defence Ministry had claimed on Tuesday that units of its African Corps prevented an attempted coup on April 25, 2026 in Mali. ZIMBABWEAN AUTHORITIES HAVE IDENTIFIED SEVEN SUSPECTS IN CONNECTION WITH A MASSIVE US $4.4M BANK HEISR. BULAWAYO. (PHOTO).

 Zimbabwean authorities have identified seven suspects in connection with a massive US$4.4 million bank heist in Bulawayo. Interpol and South African Police have joined the investigation. 


The suspects, believed to be local criminals based in South Africa, are linked to multiple robberies across Zimbabwe, including a gold heist worth US$675,000. They're accused of targeting financial institutions, businesses, and grocery shops, with significant hauls in Bulawayo.


The suspects are Elijah Vumbunu alias Mupositori, David Sawadye, Israel Zulu, Kudakwashe Mudzingwa alias Umbro, Takafa Vumbunu alias Naison Mahembe, Paul Chinake and Brian Murape.


Previous investigations revealed that after committing the crimes the gang would flee to South Africa.
