 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  20 INMATES RELEASED FROM ONITSHA CORRECTIONAL CENTER

Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, has freed 20 inmates from Onitsha Correctional Center. 


The chief Justice was accompanied by some key officers in the Judiciary, Judges from the state high court and members of the Ministry of Justice, Onitsha. 


The jail delivery exercise by the chief Justice is a way of addressing the lapses in criminal Justice, including incidents of missing case files and also a part of the constitutional duty of the chief  judge to decongest the center and look into the issues of over detained inmates including the sick ones and bring hope to those behind bars . 


The chief judge granted bail and reviewed bail condition of other inmates who their trial will continue in regular court. 


The released inmates were advised to become changed persons and avoid what will bring them back to prison also to use the skills they have acquired to better their living. 


The Deputy Controller of Onitsha Correctional Center, Mr Sunday Igwe in his remarks, noted that the visit of the Chief Judge will enhance a speedy justice to inmates who have overstayed without trial to help in decongestion of the facility.
