Airstrikes Take Down Scores of Terrorists in Zamfara

The Nigerian military has carried out airstrikes that neutralized a significant number of terrorists plotting attacks on Babban Kauye village in Tsafe Local Government Area, Zamfara State. The targeted terrorists were affiliated with notorious bandit leaders Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule.

According to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) spokesperson, Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, the airstrikes were part of 'Operation Farautar Mujiya' and were launched after intelligence indicated that the terrorists were preparing to attack military personnel and local residents. The strike successfully disrupted their plans before they could be executed.

Akinboyewa explained that intelligence sources had uncovered the terrorists' efforts to coordinate an assault, prompting NAF to carry out a series of airstrikes that resulted in significant casualties among the criminal group. Following the operation on Friday, ground troops confirmed that several key bandit leaders were eliminated, further weakening the terrorists' operations.

The Tsafe area has long been a hotspot for banditry, with groups loyal to Dan-Isuhu and Dogo Sule known for launching violent attacks on communities and security forces. These groups have often used remote villages like Babban Kauye as bases for planning and executing their crimes.

The successful airstrikes are part of a broader strategy to dismantle bandit networks in the region, in support of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and to help restore peace and security to the Northwest. Akinboyewa reiterated the NAF’s commitment to working with other security agencies to eliminate criminal elements and safeguard the nation’s stability.
