 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. Botswana's First Lady Kneels Before Husband During His Inauguration 


Duma Boko's inauguration ceremony as president of the Republic of Botswana was full of pomp and colour.


Boko, 54, inaugurated just nine days after his party beat the Botswana Democratic Party, which governed for six decades.


Boko is a human rights lawyer who is considered a social democrat.He read law at the University of Botswana and at Harvard Law School. He was raised in a modest family in Mahalapye, a village 200km from the country’s capital, Gaborone.

Her kneeling in front of her husband during one of the most important days of his life was a sign of respect.


The ceremony was a moment of pride and joy, particularly for Kaone, who was visibly emotional when she witnessed her husband take the presidential oath.

Married since 2015, Kaone is an accomplished lawyer who worked in her and husband's law firm and for his political campaigns. She has been an active supporter of initiatives aimed at tackling critical national issues such as unemployment and economic diversification.

Many in Botswana expressed admiration for her commitment and strength at the weekend.
