 Anambra to go after houses without proper drainage in order to combat Erosion  Worried by the rising menace of gully erosion, the Anambra State Government has threatened to enforce regulations requiring residents to provide proper drainage for storm water from their homes. The State Executive Council (ANSEC), which announced the proposed enforcement, lamented that erosion remains an existential challenge in Anambra, blaming the situation on careless actions by some communities and lapses by regulatory bodies in enforcing environmental laws. Briefing journalists after the weekly executive council meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, said it had been observed that some residents channel storm water from their homes directly onto roads, where it accumulates and worsens the erosion crisis across the state. “ANSEC has resolved to step up enforcement to compel residents to properly channel and manage storm water from their houses. Botswana's First Lady Kneels Before Husband During His Inauguration 


Duma Boko's inauguration ceremony as president of the Republic of Botswana was full of pomp and colour.


Boko, 54, inaugurated just nine days after his party beat the Botswana Democratic Party, which governed for six decades.


Boko is a human rights lawyer who is considered a social democrat.He read law at the University of Botswana and at Harvard Law School. He was raised in a modest family in Mahalapye, a village 200km from the country’s capital, Gaborone.

Her kneeling in front of her husband during one of the most important days of his life was a sign of respect.


The ceremony was a moment of pride and joy, particularly for Kaone, who was visibly emotional when she witnessed her husband take the presidential oath.

Married since 2015, Kaone is an accomplished lawyer who worked in her and husband's law firm and for his political campaigns. She has been an active supporter of initiatives aimed at tackling critical national issues such as unemployment and economic diversification.

Many in Botswana expressed admiration for her commitment and strength at the weekend.
