 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  Gov. Mbah Proposes N971bn 2025 Budget for Enugu State, Focuses on Education and Infrastructure


Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah, has unveiled a N971 billion budget for 2025, a significant 86.4% increase over the 2024 budget. The proposed budget allocates 86% to capital expenditure (N837.9bn) and 14% to recurrent expenditure (N133.1bn). Key priorities include education, with N320.6bn set aside for the sector, as well as major investments in roads, water, energy, and healthcare. 


Mbah also highlighted a dramatic 286.2% increase in the state's Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), which rose to N144.7bn in September 2024. The Governor expressed confidence in elevating Enugu to a top-three state in national GDP and securing inclusive economic growth. The Enugu State House of Assembly has committed to early passage of the budget to support the governor's development plans.
