The Lagos State Government, through the Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, has presented cheques to another set of 400 beneficiaries of the Sanwo-Olu Listen Financial Assistance Programme at a ceremony held on Thursday in Alausa, Ikeja.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the Lagos State Government, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political, Legislative, and Civic Engagement, Dr. Tajudeen Abiodun Afolabi said that the presentation is a landmark by recording the largest number of beneficiaries at once.

According to him, “The initiative is designed to provide financial support to residents in need, alleviate poverty, and improve the quality of life for the vulnerable, especially in the face of the ongoing economic challenges. This is one of the numerous ways we engage with the citizens and make sure they feel the impact of the Government”.

The Special Adviser added that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Administration has been focused on creating sustainable opportunities for residents of Lagos State, particularly in areas of financial inclusion, healthcare, and community development, and remains committed to ensuring that residents will continue to have access to resources that can provide relief and financial stability.

Urging the beneficiaries to use the financial aid judiciously, Afolabi said that the funds were specifically allocated to address critical needs such as healthcare, school fees, business support, and house rent.

"This financial assistance is intended to ease the financial burdens on you and your families, whether it is covering medical bills, paying school fees, supporting your business, or paying house rent. The goal is to provide immediate relief and help stabilize your situation. Therefore, we encourage you to use this assistance wisely and purposefully, ensuring it brings lasting benefits to you and your loved ones".

Emphasising the importance of registering for the Ilera-Eko Health Scheme by the beneficiaries, the Special Adviser said that the well-being of the residents is also a priority to the Government. Hence, it is necessary to register for the scheme and get affordable and quality healthcare services.

He further highlighted the collaborative efforts of the government, urging all the beneficiaries to engage more with the government through the CitizensGate App and provide feedback and suggestions on how they want the Government to serve them better.

“We want you to know that your engagement and feedback are important to us; without you, there is no #Greater Lagos Rising. As we continue to serve you, we ask for your patience and understanding, we are here to listen, and we are ready to help. I assure you that together we will build the Lagos of our dreams”, the Special Adviser stated.

Also, in attendance at the presentation of cheques is the Permanent Secretary, Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, Engr. Sholabomi Shasore and other Directors of the Office

Expressing her joy, one of the beneficiaries, Miss. Glory Oluwafunmilayo Adekoya said she decided to write to the Lagos State Government for financial assistance towards her educational support and she is extremely glad that she was selected amongst the numerous applicants.

Applauding the initiative, another beneficiary, Mr. Oladele Osinowo encouraged citizens who are yet to benefit from the initiative to take advantage of it, adding that the fund will go a long way to give them succour in their areas of needs.
