 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  I’m not scared of defecting to APC – Wike


The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, says he is not afraid of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, if he wants to.


Wike made the assertion statement while explaining reasons for not supporting the candidacy of the former Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, during the 2023 presidential election.


He said equity and fairness were found wanting in the PDP, which was why he didn’t support Atiku.


According to him, he had no conversation with President Bola Tinubu before the polls on joining the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC.


“Now at my level, I came out in this country, and I said I was not going to support your (Atiku) presidency because you’re not fair; there’s no justice, no equity as far as PDP was concerned.


“I didn’t hide it, I’m not like them, to come out in the day and say a different thing, I come out in the night I say a different thing. No.


“Nigerians know me, I’ll say something I’ll do, and I’ll do. What I will not do, I will not do. I came out and I said I was not going to support this, and I have no regrets about it.


“The President knows. I never spoke with the President any day, and say look, “I’ll go to APC”, I never told anybody that, and nobody should think that I’m afraid that if I want to join APC, I cannot join APC.


“Who’s that person that I’ll be afraid of? Who is that person in PDP?”

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
