Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  Kate Middleton Makes Rare Appearance at Festival of Remembrance

Princess of Wales made her first high-profile public appearance in months alongside the Prince of Wales at the Festival of Remembrance.

The Princess of Wales was beaming as she joined

Prince William at the Royal Albert Hall for the event, which is a staple in the royal calendar each year. It's the first Princess of Wales' first high-profile appearance in months, after Prince William described the year as the 'hardest' of his life. She last appeared in public with William in Southport, where the couple met first responders who had been on the scene of the attack in the summer, as well as meeting the families of those victims involved.

It marks the first of a number of events the Princess of Wales will attend this weekend as she joins the royal family to honour Britain's servicemen and women. His Majesty, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, as well as Princess Anne were also in attendance at the Royal Albert Hall. The Duke of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucestershire and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also seated in

the Royal Box.

This year's Festival of Remembrance "will honour the service of, and the sacrifices made by, British Armed Forces personnel: those who served in the past and those currently serving," per the British Legion. It will also commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day, along with recognizing "those who served and currently serve in Kosovo 25 years after the deployment of NATO peacekeeping force."

The traditions will continue into Nov. 10 as Kate will take part in the royals' annual attendance to pay their respects at The Cenotaph war memorial.

Since finishing treatment for cancer, Kate has slowly eased back into her public engagements.

Last month, the couple paid their respects to the Southport, U.K., community after three girls were fatally stabbed and 10 were critically injured outside a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga event in July.
