 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1.  LG COMMISSIONER MOURNS EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN OF ONIGBONGBO LCDA


The Lagos State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mr. Bolaji Kayode Robert (Bibiire) has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of the Executive Chairman, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) Hon. Dotun Olakanle passed on after a brief illness in the early hours of Saturday, 2nd November 2024.


The Honourable Commissioner, while commiserating with the family and loved ones, said that the Chairman was a humanist and a leader dedicated to the development of his council after assuming office.


Robert, stated this through the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa who led the delegation of State Government officials on a condolence visit to the family of the deceased Chairman.


According to him, "We lost a gem, an extraordinary Chairman who has dedicated his life to the development of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area and, by extension, Lagos State".


During the visit, the Commissioner further prayed for the repose of his soul and that God Almighty comfort the wife, family, friends and the people of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area.


The Permanent Secretary was accompanied on the visit by the Director of the Local Government Administration Department and was received by the APC Chairperson, Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area, Alhaja Iyabo Aminat Akerele and top Council officials of Onigbongbo LCDA.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
