 BADAGRY ANGELS WIN LAGOS SOFTBALL TOURNEY  Badagry Angels have been crowned champions of the Lagos U-15 Softball Championship held recently at the Badagry Grammar School playing field, Badagry. The five-day tournament, which began on November 11, 2024, ended on Friday, November 15 where eight teams participated in the competition designed to drive the growth of the sport at the grassroots level. As Champions of the tournament, Badagry Angels showcased their dexterity and skills against Rak Angels in the grand finale, maintaining their good position and dominance on the field before finally trouncing their opponents 9 runs to 1. NIGERIA CUSTOMS SERVICE POSTPONES GALA/AWARD NIGHT IN HONOR OF THE LATE CHIEF OF ARMY STAFF 


1. The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) wishes to announce the postponement of its Gala and Award Night, initially scheduled for Friday, November 15, 2024, in Abuja. This decision is taken to allow Nigeria Customs Service identify with the mood of the Nation in mourning the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, whose legacy of service to our nation remains in our hearts.


2. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, conveyed deep condolences to the family of the late Lt. Gen. Lagbaja, as well as to his colleagues and the entire Nigerian Armed Forces. “Lt. Gen. Lagbaja was a leader of immense dedication and sacrifice. His contributions to Nigeria’s security and inter-agency cooperation are immeasurable,” said CGC Adeniyi. “We stand with the Nigerian Army, his family, and all Nigerians in honouring his memory and service.”


3. The Nigeria Customs Service acknowledges the weight of this moment, joining all who mourn the passing of a steadfast leader. 


4. ⁠The rescheduling of the Gala and Award Night allows us to pay our last respects to a man whose impact resonates across all security services and beyond.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
