NSA Hands Over 58 Rescued Victims To Kaduna Government

The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Saturday handed over 58 rescued individuals to the Kaduna State Government following their liberation during joint security operations.

The victims were officially presented by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, to the Kaduna State Chief of Staff, Sani Limankila, who represented Governor Uba Sani during the ceremony.

General Musa clarified that no ransom was paid for the victims' release.

“This success was achieved through the combined efforts of the military and other security agencies," Musa stated. "The operation utilized both kinetic and non-kinetic methods, highlighting the importance of collective action, not just military interventions."

He emphasized the necessity of collaboration at all levels, including the Presidency, the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Ministry of Defence, and the Kaduna State Government.

According to him, such synergy was instrumental in securing the victims' release.

Musa also stressed the vital role of every Nigerian in promoting national security, stating, “If we do not work together, it will be extremely difficult to succeed. Security is a whole-of-society responsibility.”

He warned against individuals sabotaging government efforts and reassured the public of the unwavering commitment of security agencies to ensuring safety across the country.

"Many of us have sacrificed weekends and holidays, working day and night to achieve these successes. We assure Nigerians that we will continue until every captive is freed and everyone can move freely across the country," he said.

The CDS noted that while some individuals were coerced into banditry, the military remains resolute in holding all perpetrators accountable.

Details of the Operation

Major General Adamu Laka, the National Coordinator of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), provided details about the rescued victims.

He explained that the victims, including 35 males and 23 females, were abducted from Gayam, Sabon Layi, and Kwaga villages in Dan Musa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation, conducted by troops of the 1 Division on November 14, led to their rescue. According to Laka, the victims were kidnapped by armed bandits under the command of a notorious criminal identified as Janbros.

“The victims were forced to trek hundreds of kilometers through the Birnin Gwari forest,” he revealed.

Following their rescue, the victims were provided with medical care and other essential support. Laka noted that six individuals requiring hospitalization had since recovered and were reunited with the others for the formal handover.

Appreciation from the Kaduna Government

Representing Governor Uba Sani, Chief of Staff Sani Limankila expressed profound gratitude to the security agencies for their relentless efforts. He urged citizens to support ongoing operations aimed at eradicating kidnapping and insecurity.

“This rescue operation demonstrates the commitment of our security forces to safeguarding lives and property. Let us unite in supporting these efforts to ensure lasting peace in our communities,” he said.
