 North Korea fired several ballistic missiles into the sea Monday, South Korea’s military said, hours after South Korean and U.S. troops kicked off their large annual combined drills, which the North views as an invasion rehearsal.  South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missile firings, North Korea’s fifth missile launch event this year, were detected from the North’s Hwanghae province but gave no further details such as how far they flew.  Earlier Monday, the South Korean and U.S. militaries began their annual joint military exercises, which are scheduled to last 11 days. POLICE SMASH NOTORIOUS CRIME SYNDICATE, RECOVER STOLEN GOODS WORTH MILLIONS


...As RRS raids "suck and die" dealer at Bayan Gari_


The Bauchi State Police Command has achieved a significant milestone in its quest to combat crime and ensure public safety. Following a thorough investigation, the command has apprehended a suspect involved in a string of crimes, including criminal conspiracy, trespassing, fabrication of keys, instrument of store breaking, and theft.


The suspect, Ukasha Adamu, a 23-year-old male residing around Ajiya Adamu Road, Bauchi metropolis, was arrested on November 11, 2024, at about 1400hrs. Adamu's arrest is the result of a meticulous investigation conducted by the State Intelligence Department (SID), which uncovered a complex web of criminal activities.


The investigation revealed that the (defendant) Adamu and his accomplices had been systematically surveilling various stores in Bauchi metropolitan, inspecting keyholes, and replicating keys to access stores and steal valuable properties. This modus of operandi has significant implications for public safety and economic growth, as it highlights the vulnerability of businesses and individuals to targeted theft.


The Command recovered several exhibits, including:


- One hundred and fifty (150) bags of 25kg parboiled rice, valued at N6,000,000

- Forty-three (43) cartons of I.R.S. spaghetti, valued at N774,000.

- Twenty (20) cartons of Emperor vegetable oil, valued at N1,440,000

- Forty-two (42) cartons of liquid fertilizer for a product, valued at N5,040,000


The total value of the recovered goods is approximately thirteen million two hundred and fifty-four thousand (N13,254,000) naira. This significant recovery underscores the commitment of the Bauchi State Police Command to combating crime and protecting the citizens of Bauchi State.


The Command is urging members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police station. The public is also advised to take necessary precautions to secure their businesses and properties.


The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining suspects and recover additional stolen goods.


In a related development, On 22/11/2024, operatives attached to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), led by the Commander, CSP Suleiman M. Tambuwal, successfully arrested a suspected dealer of methylene chloride (A50), popularly known as “Suck and Die,” and Diamond Rubber Solution at Tudun Wadan Dan Iya (Bayan Gari), Bauchi.


The raid resulted in the arrest of Kabiru Adamu 'm' Igbo Quarters and the recovery of the following items:


1. Two hundred and sixty-four (264) pieces of OSHN Diamond Rubber Solution.

2. Nineteen (19) 30ml bottles of suspected methylene chloride (“Suck and Die”), and

3. Three hundred and sixty-three (363) empty bottles.


During interrogation, the suspect confessed that he received the items from his boss and was paid after selling them. He further confessed that each bottle of “Suck and Die” costs three hundred naira (N300), while each piece of Diamond Rubber Solution is sold for two hundred and fifty naira (N250).


The Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, psc, Anipr, has directed further investigation, after which the suspect will be charged to court.
