 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe.  Senate Holds Closed-Door Session on Possible Removal of CCT Chairman Danladi Umar


The Nigerian Senate has entered a closed-door session to discuss the potential removal of Justice Danladi Umar, Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The motion for the discussion was introduced by Senate Leader Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, citing Section 157(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended). Bamidele emphasized the numerous petitions against Umar and urged the Senate to act on the constitutional provision. 


Sources within the Senate revealed that the closed-door session was necessary to resolve certain issues before proceeding with a public debate. According to the Constitution, a two-thirds majority in both Chambers is required for the removal of a CCT Chairman. If Umar is removed, Abdullahi Usman Bello would be appointed as the new Chairman, as outlined in the motion.
