CJN Bans Lawyers, Court Officials to Stop Using ‘Barrister’ as Official Title The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has directed lawyers, court officials and other legal personnel to discontinue the use of “Barrister” as a prefix to their names in all official engagements at the Supreme Court. The directive was contained in a memorandum dated July 13, 2026, and signed by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court, Kabir Akanbi. The circular, which was addressed to litigation staff, legal practitioners, court registrars and lawyers, stated that the directive took immediate effect and was aimed at upholding professional standards within the apex court.  Thunder lightning kills 13 Children in Uganda 


A lighting strike at a refugee camp in Uganda has killed 13 children and one adult, police say.


According to reports, the victims were attending a church service on Saturday evening when the lightning struck. Another 34 people were injured.


The incident occurred at Palabek Refugee Settlement in the north-west of the country. The area has recently seen heavy rains with thunder and lightning.


Kituuma Rusoke, spokesperson for Uganda Police, told BBC News that the adult killed on Saturday was 21 years old. Mr Rusoke did not reveal the exact ages of the children who died.


Palabek Refugee Settlement is home to more than 80,000 refugees and asylum seekers.

Four years ago, lightning killed 10 children in the city of Arua, also in north-western Uganda.
