 Catholic priest reportedly klled in Kogi  A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, has been reportedly killed by unknown assailants in Ajaokuta, Kogi State. According to reports, the priest was stabbed multiple times along Ajaokuta road on Wednesday, 29th July 2026. His body was found dumped at the roadside.  Rev. Fr. Oyetoro was born in Egbe, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State and a native of Ayetoro in Ijumu Local Government Area.  Until his death, he served as a priest at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Egbe. TINUBU IDENTIFIES CREATIVE SECTOR AS KEY TO ECONOMIC DIVERSIFICATION. (PHOTO).

President Bola Tinubu has identified the creative economy as a pivotal element of his administration’s economic diversification agenda, reaffirming his commitment to positioning Nigeria’s creative sector as a driving force for global influence.


The President stated this at the launch of the 2024 Abuja International Carnival at Eagle Square, Abuja.


President Tinubu, represented by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, said the carnival reaffirms the essence of who Nigerians are—”a people of culture, a people of art, a people of colour, and a people of shared values”.


In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media & Communications, Office of The Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, under the theme, “Carnival of Renewed Hope: A Pledge to My Country”, the event showcased performances from across Nigeria and beyond, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to cultural diplomacy.


The Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, working alongside the Federal Capital Territory Administration and the Abuja International Carnival Secretariat, also received presidential commendation for their role in organising the event.


Hannatu Musawa, the Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, represented by the Acting Permanent Secretary, Oraelumo Raphael, described the carnival as a unique platform involving Nigeria’s 36 states, the FCT, and participants from around the world. He reiterated the Federal Ministry’s role as the coordinating body and the FCT’s role as host.


The Abuja International Carnival continues to serve as a vibrant showcase of Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage and a platform for fostering international collaboration and understanding.
