A Missing Indiana woman has been found deceased in a field after police ignored her family's desperate pleas to file a missing persons case.
45-year-old, Jamie Vlamos-Jones, was last seen on Wednesday, December 18th in Lake Station, Indiana. The family of Jamie quickly became concerned after having absolutely zero contact with her. They went to the police for much needed help. Sadly, their pleas fell on deaf ears.
Family members say they tried to file a missing person's case with the Porter County Sheriff's Office on December 19th and 20th, however all attempts were unsuccessful. Due to the lack of police help in locating their missing loved one, the worried family was forced to seek the help of an independent search team. The independent search team was ultimately successful in locating Jamie, but in the most devastating way.
Jamie Vlamos-Jones was discovered deceased on December 26th in a wooded area near the Little Calumet River. Her body was around 200 yards from where her vehicle had been found.
According to reports, she parked her car in the back parking lot of a paving company and then left her car on foot when she was informed she was on private property. Her purse and phone were left behind in her vehicle.
The Porter County Sheriff's office has made no statements on why they failed (or refused) to file a missing persons report.
The Lake Station PD is now investigating Jamie's disappearance and ultimately her untimely passing. They are asking for anyone with any information pertaining to this case to call Lake Station Police Department at (219) 962-1186
The medical examiner has ruled Jamie's cause of death as being due to hypothermia and preliminary results show no signs of foul play.
Our thoughts are with Jamie's family at this trying time.
