 PRESS RELEASE DEATH OF RETIRED SENIOR OFFICERS: IGP EXPRESSES SHOCK, COMMISERATES WITH FAMILIES OF JITOBOH, LONGE. The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D, NPM, is deeply shocked by the deaths of Retired DIG Moses Ambakina Jitoboh, who passed on during the early hours of Friday 27th December, 2024, after a brief illness, and Pastor Bola Longe (AIG Rtd.) who passed away on Sunday 22nd December 2024.  Retired DIG Moses Jitoboh served as the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Information & Communications Technology (ICT), Force Headquarters, before his retirement in 2023, while retired AIG Bola Longe had served as the CP Nasarawa State, and as the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Federal Operations, Force Headquarters Abuja, before his retirement in 2021. CHILD BORN ON CHRISTMAS DAY, FATHER GETS ARRESTED FOR STATUTORY RAPE. (PHOTO).

 A 28-year-old man has been arrested and charged with statutory rape after allegedly impregnating a 13-year-old girl in Seshego, Polokwane. The two met at a shopping complex in January 2024 and began communicating before becoming intimate in May 2024.



The girl only revealed the incident to her aunt after experiencing complications, and medical tests confirmed she was eight months pregnant in November 2024. She gave birth to a baby boy on Christmas Day, 25 December 2024.


The police were informed, and a statutory rape case was registered for further investigation. The suspect was arrested by the Seshego Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit on 26 December 2024 and is expected to appear in the Seshego Magistrate’s Court soon.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
