 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean.  FG to Launch New Oil Block Licensing Round in 2025, As Winners of 2024 Exercise Are Announced Today


The Nigerian Upstream Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has confirmed plans for a new oil bidding round in 2025, aimed at attracting investments, boosting oil and gas reserves, and enhancing Nigeria’s production capacity. NUPRC’s Chief Executive, Engr. Gbenga Komolafe, revealed that the 2025 round would focus on undeveloped fields and natural gas development to align with Nigeria’s UN Sustainable Development Goals.


Speaking at the 2024 Licensing Round Commercial Bid Conference in Lagos, Komolafe emphasized that the 2025 exercise would unlock Nigeria’s hydrocarbon potential, drive economic growth, and attract investors. He added that the NUPRC aims to responsibly and sustainably develop the nation’s oil and gas resources.


Meanwhile, the winners of the 2024 Licensing Round, which launched in May, will be announced today. This year’s round featured 24 carefully selected blocks, with a total of 31 blocks available, including seven carried over from the 2022 Mini Bid Round. The 2024 exercise is designed with a focus on transparency, accountability, and environmental responsibility.


Komolafe also highlighted the importance of collaboration between local and international companies, promoting local content, and creating employment. The NUPRC’s initiatives aim to drive exploration and development, ensuring Nigeria’s position as a leading energy player.
