 TROOPS APPREHEND SUSPECTED TERRORIST COLLABORATORS, FAMILY OF ISWAP FINANCE CHIEF SURRENDERS, RECOVER LOGISTICS ITEMS Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have continued to sustain pressure on  terrorists through series of intelligence-led operations that resulted in the arrest of suspected terrorist collaborators, the surrender of the family members of a senior ISWAP commander, and the recovery of terrorist logistics items. In one of the operations conducted on 27 July 2026, troops of 5 Brigade arrested six ISWAP collaborators in Damasak, Borno State. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly generating funds for the terrorist group through the procurement and sale of cattle at designated markets in Gubio, Damasak and Ajuwango. Items recovered from the suspects included one Volkswagen Golf vehicle, vehicle keys, four mobile phones of different brands, cow meat and the sum of ₦317,950.00.  Fubara Debunks Claims Of Excessive Borrowing By His Administration


Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, on Wednesday clarified that his administration has not been borrowing to fund governance, contrary to reports circulating in some quarters.


Govenror Fubara explained that the only loan obtained by his administration was a 200 billion naira facility earmarked for the construction of the ring road project, an over 50km dual carriageway that will connect six local government areas in the state.


He challenged concerned persons to verify his clarification with the Debt Management Office (DMO).


Governor Fubara made the clarification during the inauguration of the 11.8km Okehi-Umuola-Eberi road, a vital link between two sister local government areas of Etche and Omuma.


The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring the happiness and development of Rivers State residents, despite attempts to undermine his efforts.


He promised additional projects for the people of Etche and Omuma, including the completion of other roads and healthcare facilities.


Governor Fubara also emphasized that governance should not be driven by vindictiveness, recalling how a road connecting Rivers State to Imo State through Etche was halted midway by the previous administration because it led to the residence of an opposition politician.


He noted that his administration is now completing that road.


The inauguration of the Okehi-Umuola-Eberi road is part of 14 projects slated for commissioning and groundbreaking ceremonies between December 4 and December 21 under Governor Fubara’s leadership.
