GEORGIA TEEN COLLAPSED WHILE PLAYING VOLLEYBALL THEN PASSED AWAY WHILE WAITING FOR AN AMBULANCE THAT NEVER CAME. (PHOTO).

Georgia teen collapsed while playing volleyball then passed away while waiting for an ambulance that never came.

15-year-old Amanda Sylvester experienced a medical emergency while warming up with the Dream Chasers Volleyball Club at Tracey Wyatt Recreation Complex in College Park, GA.

The disturbing incident took place on Thursday, December 5th. After Amanda suddenly collapsed, the fire department and other EMS services arrived on scene and began treating the teen who was still able to speak at that time.

However Grady EMS "never fully responded" to the multiple requests for an ambulance on scene to transfer the teen that was fighting for her life. However, it was believed by everyone involved that an ambulance was on its way.

Finally fed up with waiting for over an hour, the frantic mother loaded her daughter into her own minivan and drove her to Children's Hospital of Atlanta. Once at the hospital, Amanda went into full cardiac failure and sadly passed away.

Members of the community are outraged with the ambulance never showing up and the tragic loss of life as a result.  Officials are trying to determine why there was such a catastrophic failure of their local ambulatory system.

Grady EMS released a statement saying the call was categorized as "low acuity". They added a unit was enroute but turned around when they learned the mother was transporting the teen herself.

Our thoughts are with family and friends of Amanda Sylvester.
