LAGOS RESILIENCE OFFICE ENGAGES BLACKSMITH, IRON BENDERS ASSOCIATION

The Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) on Tuesday engaged the Blacksmith and Iron Benders Association of Nigeria (BIAN), Lagos Chapter, at Ibiye, Badagry Expressway, Agbara, as part of its ongoing efforts to ensure mainstream resilience thinking across all sectors of the State.

During the sensitization workshop, LASRO officials led by Mr. Oluwole Michael Oloruntosin, representing the Chief Resilience Officer, Dr. Folayinka Dania, enlightened BIAN members on resilience thinking as an essential tool to manage business and other activities to mitigate effects of unavoidable day to day shocks and stresses for a flourishing future.

He further sensitized them on the State Government's activities centred on the importance of integrating resilience thinking into the association's operations to mitigate potential risks and leverage opportunities.

Oluwole reiterated that the engagement is part of LASRO's broader strategy to collaborate with private sector stakeholders, community groups, and trade associations to promote resilience and adaptive capacity in Lagos State.

According to him, "We recognise the critical role that associations like BIAN play in driving economic growth and development in Lagos State, and by working together, we can better equip our communities to withstand and recover from shocks and stresses while also positioning ourselves for long-term prosperity".

The President of BIAN, Prince Ibraheem Adagun expressed appreciation for the engagement and the Association’s commitment to collaborating with LASRO to promote resilience thinking among their members.

Mr. Adebayo Awosanya, a member, on behalf of the Association, lauded the Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s giant strides across board in the State for the overall good of residents.

"We are proud to identify with our Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s giant strides for the overall good of residents. We are committed to supporting the Lagos State Government's efforts to build a more resilient Lagos", he emphasised.
