 STATEHOUSE PRESS RELEASE   ENGINEERS FAROUK AHMED, GBENGA KOMOLAFE RESIGN, PRESIDENT TINUBU NOMINATES SUCCESSORS TO THE SENATE FOR APPROVAL President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has asked the Senate to approve the nominations of two new chief executives for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).   The requests followed the resignation of Engineer Farouk Ahmed of the NMDPRA and Gbenga Komolafe of the NUPRC. Both officials were appointed in 2021 by former President Buhari to lead the two regulatory agencies created by the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).   To fill these positions, President Tinubu has written to the Senate, requesting expedited confirmation of Oritsemeyiwa Amanorisewo Eyesan as CEO of NUPRC and Engineer Saidu Aliyu Mohammed as CEO of NMDPRA.   The two nominees are seasoned professionals in the oil and gas industry.   Eyesan, a graduate of Economics f...

 “Lookman’s Triumph Marks a New Era for Nigerian Sports Development” – NSC DG Olopade


Honourable Bukola Olopade, Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), has hailed Ademola Lookman’s selection as the 2024 CAF Player of the Year as a historic achievement that will elevate Nigerian sports to new heights.


Olopade also commended Chiamaka Nnadozie, the Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, for winning the Goalkeeper of the Year award, and praised the Super Falcons for being named the Women’s Team of the Year.


Speaking at the CAF Awards in Marrakech, Morocco, where he attended despite his busy schedule, Olopade expressed immense pride in the athletes’ performances, highlighting their successes as significant milestones for Nigerian football.


“It was a remarkable night for Nigerian football. Both our male and female athletes demonstrated excellence, with Lookman and Nnadozie receiving top individual honors, and the Super Falcons being named Women’s Team of the Year,” Olopade stated.


The NSC DG emphasized that Lookman’s achievement reflects his dedication, consistency, and the immense talent within Nigerian athletes.


“Lookman’s success establishes him as one of Africa’s top players. His recognition is not only well-deserved but also serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes back home,” Olopade remarked.


He also lauded Chiamaka Nnadozie for her outstanding contributions, noting that her award highlights the growing strength of women’s sports in Nigeria.


“Nnadozie’s achievement is a powerful reminder of the potential of our women athletes. It reinforces our commitment to investing in women’s sports and creating more opportunities for female athletes across the country,” Olopade added.


In conclusion, the NSC DG stated that these accomplishments will inspire and motivate young athletes, encouraging a new generation to strive for excellence as Nigeria continues to prioritize sports development under the current administration.
