 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Multiple Children Feared Dead in Ibadan Carnival Stampede


A stampede at a carnival in Ibadan, Oyo State, has reportedly claimed the lives of many children. The incident occurred on Wednesday in the Bashorun area of Ibadan.


While the exact number of casualties has not been confirmed, it is known that several victims were rushed to hospitals across the Ibadan metropolis.


The carnival, scheduled for Wednesday, saw many parents bring their children to the venue on Tuesday, with others arriving in the early hours of Wednesday. The rush to enter the event space led to a stampede, resulting in multiple fatalities, with many children feared dead.


Efforts by DAILY POST to get a statement from the Oyo State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso, were unsuccessful. However, the Oyo State Government has confirmed the tragedy.


Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Dotun Oyelade, confirmed the incident, stating that a private children’s fun fair at Basorun Islamic High School led to the stampede, which resulted in several deaths and injuries. He assured that a rapid response team was mobilized and victims were swiftly transported to various hospitals for medical care.
