New York governor Kathy Hochul demands termination of ALL employees caught on body cameras participating in a brutal beating that left a man deceased.
43-year-old Robert Brooks' last moments on Earth were absolutely terrifying. His tragic death was captured on December 9th with body cameras. No less than 8 correctional officers savagely beat Robert while he was handcuffed and helpless. The governor is calling for the immediate termination of over one dozen correctional officers and one nurse.
In the video you witness Mr. Brooks being physically carried into a medical examination room by a group of correctional officers.
Once inside, the handcuffed man suffered humiliation and unimaginable pain at the hands of correctional officers. You can clearly see officers repeatedly strike Brooks in the face and groin. At one point it appears they are trying to violently force something down his throat. He is also lifted by only his neck and thrown down.
After sustaining a prolonged beating at the hands of the officers, Brooks is then stripped of his shirt and pants and left bloodied and motionless on his back. He was later transferred to a local hospital where he passed away in the early morning hours of December 10th.
Sadly, Robert Brooks lost his life due to the vicious attack with preliminary medical examinations indicating he died due to "compression asphyxia of the neck". The final results of the autopsy are pending.
The Attorney General's Office is investigating what led to this unbelievable attack and there is no word on whether charges are forthcoming.
However, the New York governor has demanded the termination of over one dozen employees from Marcy Correctional Facility in Onedia County, NY.
Robert Brooks was serving a 12 year prison sentence for a first-degree assault. He had been incarcerated since 2017 but had only arrived at Marcy Correctional Facility hours before the fatal beating after being transferred from a nearby state prison.
The body cameras were remotely activated. It is unknown if the officers knew that their body cameras were on. Officers involved in the homicide did not activate the audio to their body cameras. The video is nothing short of heartbreaking and shocking. The video does not show any provoking or threatening behavior by Robert Brooks.
