PLATEAU ELDERS ENDORSE INCLUSIVE GOVERNANCE, TRANSFORMATION UNDER GOVERNOR CALEB MUTFWANG

The Elders of Plateau State have endorsed the pragmatic leadership of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, aimed at fostering unity and inclusive governance for the rapid transformation of the state.

During a luncheon at the Banquet Hall, New Government House, Rayfield Jos, the most respected citizens expressed their views on security and good governance under Governor Mutfwang.

Former Military Governor of the State, Rear Admiral Samuel Bitrus Atikum, applauded Governor Mutfwang for initiating governance on a sincere and inclusive note. He highlighted the Governor’s holistic approach to road construction and rehabilitation in the Jos/Bukuru Metropolis, considering all communities without bias.

Admiral Atikum praised the Governor’s determination, resilience, and forthright thinking in addressing the myriad of security challenges in the state. He called for the support of elders across ethnic and party lines to win the war against insecurity.

Admiral Atikum advised Governor Mutfwang to set aside party affiliations and continue governance with an even development approach, treating the entire state as his constituency. He urged the Governor to avoid sycophants and seek inspirational knowledge to formulate policies that will benefit the people.

Former Governors of the state, Sen. Joshua Chibi Dariye, Sen. Jonah David Jang, and Sen. Simon Bako Lalong, commended Governor Mutfwang’s initiatives to unite the people and foster development for the state’s growth and prosperity.

They pledged their steadfast support through quality and genuine advice to advance the developmental agenda of Plateau State. They also called for frequent engagements with Plateau Elders to gather wisdom for tackling the state’s challenges.

Other elders who spoke at the event included former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Amb. Yahaya Kwande, Chief Samuel Mafwai, and the Emir of Kanam, Alh. Mu’azu Babangida Mu’azu, who spoke on behalf of the traditional institution. They unanimously aligned with Governor Mutfwang’s vision for uplifting Plateau State.

The Elders applauded the introduction of Metro Buses and the revival of the Railway line between Jos and Bukuru by the Governor to address the hardships confronting citizens. They called for support for the Governor and urged citizens to play their part in safeguarding and securing the state.

In his remarks, Governor Mutfwang thanked the elders for their swift response to the meeting and expressed great hope that with their support, Plateau will experience unprecedented development in the new year and beyond.

Highlighting his vision for a secure Plateau State, Governor Mutfwang said his administration has made significant investments in technology for surveillance and swift security response, which are already yielding tremendous results, leading to the current peace in the state.

He noted that the state’s tourism status has received a boost, with efforts to rebuild Hill Station Hotel, Plateau State Hotel, and the Jos Abattoir to provide employment opportunities and generate internal revenue for the state’s development.

Governor Mutfwang appealed to the Tarok and Ronkulere nations to collaborate and present unanimous candidates for coronation as Ponshi Tarok and Saf Ronkulere, respectively, to make the structure of the traditional institution in the state complete.

He assured the elders of his commitment to organizing frequent engagements to brainstorm over issues that will uplift the social and economic status of the state.
