 CBN Revokes Operating Licenses of Aso Savings and Loans Plc and Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revoked the operational licenses of two primary mortgage banks, Aso Savings and Loans Plc and Union Homes Savings and Loans Plc, citing multiple regulatory violations and financial distress. In a press release issued today, the CBN stated that the action was taken under Section 12 of the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020 and Section 7.3 of the Revised Guidelines for Mortgage Banks in Nigeria. The move is part of broader efforts to reposition the mortgage sub-sector and enforce compliance with laws and regulations. S. A:  A 26-year-old man was arrested in Acornhoek on 27 December 2024, just hours after allegedly shooting a fellow patron in a tavern in Violet Bank, Bushbuckridge.


The incident occurred on 26 December 2024 during a game of snooker, which escalated into an argument. Although another patron intervened and the dispute seemed resolved, the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot the victim before fleeing.

Fortunately, the victim survived and received medical attention at a nearby hospital. The police recovered a firearm with 17 rounds of live ammunition and charged the suspect with attempted murder and unlawful possession of a firearm with ammunition.


He is set to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on 30 December 2024
