 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Stampede: Organizers of Ibadan Children's Carnival Arrested – Makinde


Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced the arrest of the organizers of a children’s carnival in which an undisclosed number of children were reportedly killed in a stampede.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the Governor confirmed the incident took place in the Bashorun area of Ibadan earlier that day.


Makinde stated that the state government has taken immediate actions to prevent further fatalities, including initiating an investigation into the incident. He emphasized that those responsible will be held accountable.


The Governor also mentioned that medical teams and ambulances have been dispatched to the scene, the event has been halted, and attendees were safely escorted out of the venue.


“Earlier today, a tragic incident occurred at Islamic High School Basorun, where an event for families was being held. We have deployed security personnel to restore order and prevent further casualties, while medical personnel and ambulances have been sent to assist. The event has been canceled, and attendees have been escorted off the premises,” Makinde stated.


He also confirmed that the primary organizers of the event, which led to the stampede, have been arrested, and investigations are currently underway.
