 TROOPS OF OPERATION WHIRL STROKE ARREST HIGH PROFILE CRIMINAL IN BENUE COMMUNITY Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested a high-profile suspected criminal during an intelligence-driven operation in Agasha Village of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State, following a report of an attack on a local resident. The operation was launched on 13 March 2026 after security agencies received credible information regarding an attack on Mr Shaapera Seeta Michael in Agasha Village. Acting swiftly on the report, troops of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Intervention Battalion XI deployed under Operation WHIRL STROKE mobilised immediately to the affected area to track down the suspect responsible for the assault. Upon arrival, the troops cordoned the area to prevent the suspect from escaping while conducting a targeted search operation aimed at identifying and apprehending the alleged attacker.  Troops from  6 Brigade Nigerian Army, in conjunction with Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, have dealt a significant blow to bandits operating in Taraba and Benue States. 

The operation, codenamed "Operation Golden Peace," aims to restore peace and security in the region.


On December 7, 2024, the troops launched a well-coordinated clearance operation in the Akahagu and China villages of Ukum Local Government Area in Benue State. The operation extended to Ikayor village, where troops engaged bandits linked to the notorious criminal Akiki Utiv, also known as "Full Fire."


The bandits were forced to flee after troops applied overwhelming firepower. A red Toyota Corolla vehicle, a motorcycle, and various items, including a military camouflage trouser and a Beretta pistol, were recovered.


Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their bravery and resilience. He assured residents of Taraba and Benue States that the military remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region.
