 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. UN Warns of War Crimes as Israeli Attacks on Gaza Hospitals Escalate Humanitarian Crisis


The UN Human Rights Office has condemned Israeli attacks on hospitals in Gaza, warning that they have pushed the healthcare system to the verge of collapse. Between October 2023 and June 2024, 136 strikes hit 27 hospitals and medical facilities, causing significant casualties and infrastructure damage. Israel claims these hospitals were used by Hamas, but the UN finds the evidence vague and unsubstantiated. Such attacks may constitute war crimes under international law, which protects medical facilities during conflict.


The report stresses that attacks on hospitals, civilian populations, or disproportionate strikes could violate humanitarian law, and in some cases, deliberate destruction of healthcare facilities might amount to collective punishment. Despite Israel’s assertion that it follows international law, the bombardment of medical centers in Gaza has exacerbated the dire humanitarian crisis and undermined protections for civilians.
