The donation was made at the Azare General Hospital in Katagum Local Government Area, Bauchi. UNICEF’s Country Representative in Nigeria, Christian Munduate, credited the project’s success to donors such as the Government of Canada and IHS Nigeria.

Munduate highlighted that the oxygen plant marks a significant milestone in UNICEF’s commitment to improving maternal, newborn, and child health in the region. He emphasized that the plant would provide crucial life-saving treatment for newborns and children suffering from pneumonia and other respiratory conditions.

Additionally, the newly established Level 2 Newborn Unit at Azare General Hospital, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, is expected to drastically reduce neonatal mortality rates and enhance health outcomes for vulnerable children. Munduate urged that the unit be staffed with qualified healthcare professionals.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, represented by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau, expressed gratitude to UNICEF for the project and its ongoing commitment to improving public health.
