Woman caught on hands & knees eating cat in sick video gets short jail sentence & is branded
'national embarrassment'
THE disturbed woman who was caught eating a cat carcass in the middle of her neighborhood will spend a year in jail for the sick act.
Ohio resident Allexis Ferrell, 27, heard her fate on Monday from a judge who blasted her for being a national embarrassment
“This is repulsive to me,” Stark County Common Pleas Judge Frank Forchione said in court, per the Canton Repository.
“I can’t express the disappointment, shock, disgust that this crime has brought me.”
In August, Ferrell was caught on all fours gnawing on a dead cat in her neighborhood about an hour south of Cleveland.
Grisly bodycam footage of her deranged behavior was released in September, and she became an overnight sensation.
Terrified neighbors could be seen watching in horror as cops cuffed the blood-covered woman while she stood in an eerie silence.
Judge Forchione said Ferrell’s actions were so depraved that he believes she’s a danger to the community.
“I don’t know what could prompt anyone to eat a cat,” he said at her sentencing.
“I mean, that anyone would do this to an animal. And an animal’s like a child.
“I don’t know if you understand that or not.”
The sick criminal’s case rippled across the country as it came after rumors spread of Haitian immigrants eating pets in Springfield, Ohio.
President-elect Donald Trump amplified the baseless claims by mentioning them in his debate with rival Kamala Harris.
Ferrell isn’t an immigrant, but Judge Forchione still blasted her for the effects her crimes had on their community.
“You’ve embarrassed this county,” he said.
“You’ve embarrassed this nation. More importantly, you’ve embarrassed yourself.”
This is repulsive to me. I can’t express the disappointment, shock, disgust that this crime has brought to me
Judge Frank Forchione
Ferrell tried to interrupt the judge during the sentencing, but he shut her down, saying, “it’s my courtroom” and “my turn to talk.”
The criminal pleaded guilty to a felony animal cruelty charge, and Judge Forchione gave her a maximum sentence of one year.
This will be tacked on to an existing 18-month sentence she had for theft and child endangerment, the New York Post reported.
Despite the judge’s damning words, Ferrell’s defense attorney insisted she was a nice person.
She has a history of drug and alcohol abuse and will get inpatient treatment after her release, the attorney said.
In his fiery statement, Judge Forchione said he hopes his sentencing is a voice to the voiceless.
“They don’t have a voice,” he said of pets.
“Their only voice today is me, and I’m going to exercise this voice very loudly.”.
