 Multiple Levies : Drivers' President Warns Illegal Revenue Collectors After Appointment As PNAI Co-ordinator  By Juliana Nwachukwu The National President, Heavy Duty Truck Drivers' Association, comrade Uche Rogers Nebuwa, has warned that the association will not tolerate imposition of multiple levies by illegal revenue collectors on the highways nationwide this year. Sounding the note of warning shortly after his appointment as Mobile Volunteered Membership Emblems co-ordinator and taskforce member of Policing Nigeria Awareness Initiative, (PNAI), he reiterated the resolve of the drivers and PNAI to work in partnership to sack all illegal revenue collectors on the highways. 3 Arrested For Flogging Sales Girl Accused Of Theft In Lagos Boutique


The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects linked to the assault and molestation of a young lady at Don Maserati Classic Boutique on Lagos Island in the State.


The victim was accused of theft at the boutique where she was a sales girl, hence the corporal punishment was meted on her by a group of men.


The Police, however, said it was making efforts to arrest others involved in the assault while it was also making efforts to establish contact with the victim.


These were disclosed on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, through his official handle on X (formerly Twitter).


Hundeyin stated, “Three suspects have been arrested, while efforts are on to apprehend other suspects and establish contact with the victim.”


“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Ishola, also assured Lagosians of justice, Justice will be served,” he added.


The arrest followed public outrage over a trending video showing a young lady being flogged and molested by several men.


Reports suggested the incident was allegedly ordered by the owner of Don Maserati Classic Boutique, who accused the victim, an employee, of theft.


The video, which went viral on social media on Sunday, triggered widespread condemnation, with netizens calling for the immediate prosecution of all those involved.

    That boutique should be boycotted, and the owner too prosecuted for commissioning those thugs to severely assault that lady in that manner. Even if she truly stole, she should hsve been handed over to the police. Imagine if she's eventually found innocent! That's grossly unfair and barbaric. Kudos to social media for exposing atrocities like this.

  SSANU, NASU threaten strike over withheld salaries The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions have threatened to disrupt industrial peace in universities should the government fail to release the withheld salaries of members. The salaries were seized by the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari during their strike in 2022. The unions, in a joint letter signed on Friday by the President of SSANU, Muhammed Ibrahim and General Secretary of NASU, Peters Adeyemi, questioned the rationale with which the government released four months withheld salaries to members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities but failed to release the withheld salaries of non-academic staff.
