 Ghanaian Church Honors 20 Young Girls for Preserving Virginity The Seventh-Day Adventist (SDA) Church in Wenchi West District, Bono Region, celebrated 20 young girls aged 13 to 16 for maintaining their virginity during a special Thanksgiving service. Organized by the Young Adventist Women Ministries, the event aimed to uphold moral integrity rooted in Christian and cultural values. Mrs. Nana Amponsah Poku, Coordinator of the Young Adventist Women Ministries, highlighted the initiative’s focus on fostering self-confidence and wise decision-making among young women. She urged the girls to remain cautious in their friendships and continue preserving their purity, emphasizing their unique beauty as God’s creation.  Anambra State Government Commissions several facilities at Akwaeze Community High School

In a significant event, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has commissioned several facilities at Community High School, Akwaeze, Anaocha Local Government Area.


"These included an administrative block, renovated classrooms, a kitchen, and a refectory. The structures were built and donated by Chief Ikenna Okafor, Chairman of the Ide Ezeani Nzekwubuo Foundation, as part of the 11th anniversary celebrations of the foundation.


The event began with a holy Mass at St. Michael’s Parish, Akwaeze, officiated by the Catholic Bishop of Ekwulobia Diocese, Peter Cardinal Okpaleke.


The occasion also featured a medical outreach, providing support to 179 individuals, including pupils, tertiary students, widows, and sickle cell groups, with cash donations ranging from ₦30,000 to ₦500,000. Dr. Esther Okafor contributed delivery kits for pregnant women in Akwaeze.


Gov. Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Afam Obidike, commended Chief Okafor for his philanthropy, highlighting his positive impact on education and community development through a Public-Private-Community-Partnership model. 


The governor expressed gratitude for Okafor's support for education and encouraged him to continue his efforts.


In his address, Chief Okafor emphasized the importance of education, saying, “Education is the only gift you can give to someone that cannot be taken away". 


He noted that he has invested over ₦650 million in infrastructure, equipment, and scholarships for the school, with many students benefiting from his scholarship program. 


Chief Okafor also pledged to equip Akwaeze Hospital with 21st-century diagnostic tools, called for increased public-private collaboration, more teachers, and greater encouragement for students to maximize the opportunities available.


Notable figures, including Senator Victor Umeh and Prof. Charles Esimone, former Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, praised Okafor for transforming the school into a model of excellence.
