ACP Daniel Amah, Honored for Rejecting $200,000 Bribe, Converts to Islam

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Daniel Amah, widely praised for his integrity in refusing a $200,000 bribe, has embraced Islam in a ceremony at the Emir of Kano’s palace, Muhammad Sanusi II.

During the private event on Tuesday, Amah was formally welcomed into the Islamic faith, taking the name Muhammad. The Emir encouraged him to deepen his understanding of Islam and observe its five pillars: belief in Allah, daily prayers, fasting during Ramadan, pilgrimage to Mecca, and charitable giving (Zakat). He also prayed for Amah’s guidance and success in his new faith.

The Emir further urged Amah to uphold his exemplary character and continue respecting his parents, regardless of their religious beliefs.

A Record of Integrity

Amah gained national attention in April 2022 as the Divisional Police Officer in Nasarawa Local Government Area, Kano State, when he rejected a $200,000 bribe from armed robbery suspects involved in stealing over ₦300 million, including $750,000 from a Bureau De Change operator.

In recognition of his unwavering integrity, the Police Service Commission promoted him to Assistant Commissioner of Police on November 10, 2022.

National Recognition

Former President Muhammadu Buhari also acknowledged Amah’s exceptional conduct by presenting him with the 2022 Public Service Integrity Award, based on a recommendation by Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye, Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

Amah’s conversion to Islam has earned widespread admiration, further cementing his image as a symbol of moral excellence and uprightness.
