The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring.  ATBUTH Bauchi Slashes Kidney Dialysis Cost by 70%


The Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi has significantly reduced the cost of kidney dialysis sessions, cutting prices by 70% to ease financial burdens on patients.


In a statement issued on Wednesday, the hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Usman Koli, announced that the cost per session has dropped from ₦40,000 to ₦12,000. He highlighted that the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare had provided consumables in bulk and a new dialysis machine to support the initiative.


The hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Professor Yusuf Bara, expressed optimism about the program’s positive impact, emphasizing the government’s commitment to accessible and quality healthcare.


Over 45 patients have already benefited from the subsidized services, with kidney patient Magaji Galadima expressing heartfelt gratitude, calling the program "life-changing."


ATBUTH reaffirmed its dedication to delivering affordable healthcare and strengthening public confidence in the system, vowing to sustain and expand similar initiatives in collaboration with stakeholders.
