 President Trump awarded inaugural FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup draw in Washington  Gianni Infantino, the FIFA President presented the honour onstage at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts on Friday, saying Trump had been selected “in recognition of his exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity around the world”. “This is your prize, this is your peace prize,” Infantino said, after Trump took the stage to accept the trophy, a medal and certificate. “There is also a beautiful medal for you that you can wear everywhere you want to go.”   FIFA says the prize is for “individuals who help unite people in peace through unwavering commitment and special actions”.  Accepting the award, Trump called it “one of the great honours of my life”, before claiming to have “saved millions and millions of lives – the Congo is an example, over 10 million people killed and it was heading for another 10 million very quickly.  China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Visit Nigeria on Wednesday


China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, is set to arrive in Abuja on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, for an official visit to Nigeria. The visit aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and China.


Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, will engage in high-level discussions during his stay. He is scheduled to meet with Nigeria's Foreign Minister, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, on Thursday, January 9, for bilateral talks focused on enhancing cooperation, particularly in trade, infrastructure, and technology.


The visit will also include a courtesy call on President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where Wang Yi will deliver a special message from Chinese President Xi Jinping.


The announcement was made by the Acting spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, who confirmed that Wang Yi will be received at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by the Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Dunoma Ahmed.


This visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the two nations and open new avenues for collaboration across various sectors.
