 ANAMBRA POLICE ACTION ON THE CULT CLASH THAT RESULTED IN THE FATAL INJURY OF FOUR PERSONS AT AFOR NAWFIA MARKET The Anambra State Police Command wishes to provide a comprehensive update on the cult-related attack that occurred on the evening of 7th December 2025 at Afor Nawfia Market, along the Onitsha–Awka Old Road. It will be recalled that operatives of the Command attached to the Special Anti-Cult Squad, Enugwu-Ukwu, had, four days earlier, acting on credible intelligence about a planned rival cult confrontation, arrested two dangerous suspects and recovered a firearm from them. The arrested suspects have been assisting the Police with valuable information aimed at preventing further cult-related violence within Awka and its environs.  COLLAPSED BUILDING AT IKOTA, LEKKI: LAGOS NSCDC DEPLOYS RECOVERY TEAM, RESCUES TWO ( 2 ) ALIVE, SEARCH ONGOING.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps ( NSCDC ), Lagos State Command, today, Tuesday, 28th January, 2025, received, a distress call, from concerned residents that a two - storey building under construction collapsed, with workers trapped inside, at about 1500hrs in the afternoon, around the Ikota axis of Lekki.


The State Commandant, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, directed, immediately, deployed, disaster management, rescue and recovery operation team, led, by the Eti - Osa Divisional officer, Chief Superintendent of Corps David Oyende, to immediately, synergize with other Emergency First Responders' Team, to commence search, rescue, recovery and evacuation operation of workers, who may be trapped in the rubbles. This immediate action is to enable the team rescue many bodies alive and clinically, evacuate bodies, of if found dead, unfortunately.


While the search, rescue and recovery operation is yet ongoing, the Command's personnel at the scene have confirmed, the success rescue of two ( 2 ) persons alive.
