 Multiple Levies : Drivers' President Warns Illegal Revenue Collectors After Appointment As PNAI Co-ordinator  By Juliana Nwachukwu The National President, Heavy Duty Truck Drivers' Association, comrade Uche Rogers Nebuwa, has warned that the association will not tolerate imposition of multiple levies by illegal revenue collectors on the highways nationwide this year. Sounding the note of warning shortly after his appointment as Mobile Volunteered Membership Emblems co-ordinator and taskforce member of Policing Nigeria Awareness Initiative, (PNAI), he reiterated the resolve of the drivers and PNAI to work in partnership to sack all illegal revenue collectors on the highways.  COMMISSIONER RALLIES SUPPORT, PRAYERS FOR FAMILIES OF FALLEN ARMED FORCES HEROES 


... As Muslim Faithful Hold Special Jumat Service to Honour Fallen Heroes


The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, held a special Jumat Service on Friday at the Lagos Secretariat Community Central Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, to commemorate the 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.


Addressing the congregation at the prayer session, the Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, who was represented by the Commissioner for Home Affairs, Hon. Olanrewaju Ibrahim Layode, called for continuous prayers and support for the families of fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price for the peace and sovereignty of Nigeria.


He emphasised the critical role played by the Armed Forces in ensuring national security and reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to honouring their sacrifices even long after they have died.


The Deputy Governor highlighted the importance of the special Jumat Service in praying for eternal rest for the departed heroes and reiterated the government's consistent support towards the welfare of their families and dependents.


He noted that the Lagos State Government, as customary, through the Nigeria Legion (Lagos State Chapter), has provided financial and logistic assistance to widows, widowers, and dependents of the deceased personnel.


As part of these efforts, Hamzat mentioned the recent donation of the sum of ₦75 million by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the provision of vehicles to enhance the operations of the Legionnaires within the state. 


These initiatives, he added, are among several acts of goodwill by the State Government to support the Nigeria Legion's cause.


He announced that the Governor would join other dignitaries on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Remembrance Arcade, Lagos for the Parade and laying of wreaths at the Cenotaph in honour of the fallen heroes.


Earlier in his sermon, the Guest Speaker, Dr. AbdulMajeeb Isa, an Islamic Scholar, charged Nigerians to be ready to make sacrifices both to God and their country, adding that there are divine rewards for such acts of patriotism and selflessness in the afterlife.


He cited that the great heroes of the Armed Forces have paid great sacrifices for the greatness and stability of Nigeria by dying for its defence and security which has guaranteed the survival of the country.


The event was graced by members of the State Executive Council, Body of Permanent Secretaries, representatives of the Armed Forces comprising of the Nigerian Army, the Navy, the Nigerian Police, the Department of State Security, the Nigerian Legion amongst others, Imams, Clerics, Heads of Paramilitary groups, and other dignitaries.
