 Kebbi Govt Donates 10 Hilux Vehicles to Boost Security on Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway  The Kebbi State Government has handed over 10 brand-new Hilux vehicles to the Federal Ministry of Works to strengthen security for personnel working on the Sokoto–Badagry Super Highway project. The vehicles were formally received by the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad Goronyo, who praised Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasiru Idris (Kauran Gwandu), for the donation. Goronyo described the gesture as a clear demonstration of the state government’s commitment to protecting workers and contractors on the strategic highway corridor. He explained that the vehicles will be deployed exclusively to security operatives providing cover for construction teams along the section of the super highway passing through Kebbi State.  Edo Governor Orders Investigation into Alleged DSS Assault on Journalists


Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered an investigation into the alleged assault on journalists by a Department of State Services (DSS) official during the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal proceedings at the High Court in Benin.


In a statement by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chairman Festus Alenkhe and Secretary Andy Egbon commended Governor Okpebholo for his swift intervention, emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of media practitioners.


“We are deeply grateful to Governor Okpebholo for his prompt response, which sends a strong message that attacks on journalists will not be tolerated in Edo State,” the statement read.


The NUJ acknowledged the governor’s directive for a thorough investigation by the security agency and praised his efforts to foster a secure environment for media practice in the state.


“As the governor continues to uphold the principles of democracy and the rule of law, we pledge our support for his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of journalists,” the NUJ stated.


The union also called on stakeholders to join the governor in promoting respect for media professionals and their fundamental rights.
