 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring.  Edo Governor Orders Investigation into Alleged DSS Assault on Journalists


Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has ordered an investigation into the alleged assault on journalists by a Department of State Services (DSS) official during the Edo Governorship Election Tribunal proceedings at the High Court in Benin.


In a statement by the Edo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Chairman Festus Alenkhe and Secretary Andy Egbon commended Governor Okpebholo for his swift intervention, emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding the rights and safety of media practitioners.


“We are deeply grateful to Governor Okpebholo for his prompt response, which sends a strong message that attacks on journalists will not be tolerated in Edo State,” the statement read.


The NUJ acknowledged the governor’s directive for a thorough investigation by the security agency and praised his efforts to foster a secure environment for media practice in the state.


“As the governor continues to uphold the principles of democracy and the rule of law, we pledge our support for his administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and protection of journalists,” the NUJ stated.


The union also called on stakeholders to join the governor in promoting respect for media professionals and their fundamental rights.
