 Dolly Parton returns to public eye to celebrate opening day at Dollywood     Dolly Parton made her first public appearance in months to celebrate the opening day of Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, on Friday. The country music icon reflected on the past year, a year after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, saying she is “doing good” and has been working to rebuild herself spiritually, emotionally, and physically after grieving and dealing with health issues that kept her from touring. Joined on stage by Dollywood president Eugene Naughton, Parton brought her trademark humor to the crowd, joking about rumors of a new husband while reaffirming her devotion to Dean. She also shared updates on her ongoing projects, including a new Broadway musical and her Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum in Nashville. FCT POLICE COMMAND CONDUCTS RAID ON ILLEGAL DRUG SPOTS ACROSS THE FEDERAL CAPITAL TERRITORY


On 23rd January 2025, operatives of the FCT Police Command, under the Anti-Narcotics Unit, successfully executed a series of coordinated raids targeting identified hotspots across the FCT. These locations were known to be used by criminal elements for the sale and consumption of illicit drugs and substances.


The areas covered during the raids include:

1. SDP Junction, Gwagwalada.

2. Lugbe Federal Housing, by Tipper Garage.

3. Wuse Zone 5, by Access Bank.

4. AYA Roundabout.


During the operation, suspects at the respective locations attempted to flee on sighting the Police operatives but were swiftly pursued. This led to the arrest of eight (8) suspects and the recovery of the following exhibits:

• One hundred (100) rounds of live 7.62 x 39mm ammunition.

• A large quantity of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis.

• A substantial amount of encapsulated illicit drugs.


These operations highlight the Command’s dedication to ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents. The FCT Police Command remains resolute in its fight against the menace of illicit drug activities within the Federal Capital Territory.
