 NDLEA dismantles Abuja drug bunks, arrests 132, recovers 220kg illicit substances  -Marwa hails operation, vows to sustain crackdown in FCT, other states  In a non-stop two-week offensive action against traffickers and dealers, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully dismantled several drug joints and bunks within and around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja where a total of 132 suspects were arrested and 220 kilograms of assorted illicit substances recovered. The wel-coordinated raids jointly conducted by the Agency's Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) and the FCT Strategic Command from llth to 25th April 2026 were launched to dismantle illicit drug hubs contributing to substance abuse, trafficking, and associated criminal activities in the capital city after weeks of intelligence and surveillance across all identified hotspots.  Onitsha North LGA Welcomes New Year Babies with Generosity, Support too

In a heartwarming gesture, the Mayor of Onitsha North LGA, Hon. Nweze Tony Nwora, celebrated the arrival of New Year Day babies with a special visit to the Federal Medical Center Onitsha (formerly General Hospital Onitsha).  


Led by Hon. Chike Valerian Nwanosike Jnr, Supervisory Councillor for Health, and Hon. Mrs. Nkiru Ezediniru, Supervisory Councillor for Environment, the delegation extended their congratulations to the mothers and encouraged them to provide loving care for their newborns.  


Hon. Nwanosike expressed gratitude to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo for implementing free antenatal services across Anambra State, highlighting how the program has eased financial pressures on families. He also presented tokens to the families of the newborns as a gesture of support and joy.  


Hon. Ezediniru emphasized the importance of utilizing nearby Primary Healthcare Centers and General Hospitals to access these essential services, reinforcing the administration’s dedication to community health.  


Receiving the delegation, Head Nurse Onwunyili Ogechukwu expressed appreciation for the thoughtful outreach. Nursing students, including Nwankwo Chukwuebuka, Abadom Stella Martins, Ezeh Chinaza, Okpala Maryjane and Obijekwu Mmesoma, alongside Assistant Nurse Okonkwo Felicia, warmly welcomed the team.  


Among the mothers celebrating the New Year’s arrivals, Mrs. Modesta Ezego, who gave birth on January 1, 2025, expressed gratitude for the visit and the gifts. Another mother, Mrs. Ode Christiana praised Mayor Nwora for his compassionate leadership and support.  


This initiative reflects the administration's commitment to fostering a strong sense of community and prioritizing the well-being of its residents, especially during pivotal moments in their lives. The team plans to continue similar visits to other hospitals to assess needs and extend support further.
