 M23 says hundreds of Burundi soldiers captured in latest Congo offensive The Rwanda-backed M23 group has captured hundreds of Burundian soldiers during its latest offensive in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, a rebel official said, as clashes continued despite a warning from the Trump administration. Last week M23 entered the strategic town of Uvira near the border with Burundi, less than a week after the presidents of Congo and Rwanda met in Washington with U.S. President Donald Trump and affirmed their commitment to a peace deal known as the Washington Accords. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Saturday that Rwanda's actions in eastern Congo violated the Washington Accords and vowed to "take action to ensure promises made to the President are kept". Rwanda denies supporting M23 and has blamed Congolese and Burundian forces for the renewed fighting.  SECURITY: LAGOS EQUIPS LNSA OFFICERS WITH MORE OPERATIONAL EQUIPMENT 


The General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Prince Dr. Ifalade Oyekan has warned officers of the Corps to treat Government equipment in their possession with care. 


Oyekan said this while speaking with the Commanding Officers of the various Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas during the distribution of additional equipment to them. 


"Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the Governor of Lagos State, has been very gracious to this Agency and its Corps, and we owe the people of Lagos State to be diligent at our work while also protecting the equipment put at our disposal", he said. 


All the 57 LG and LCDA Commands of the Corps arm of the Agency received tools and a host of other equipment, which includes Flashlights, Intelligence Pen Recorders, Binoculars with Night Vision capacity, and Megaphones to enhance their Community engagement programmes and capabilities.
