 TEAM LAGOS EMERGES TOP AT 23RD NATIONAL SPORTS FESTIVAL SOUTH WEST ELIMINATION Lagos State athletes proved their dominance in the South West by edging out regional competitors and emerging top in the five team events contested at the elimination series qualifier for the 23rd National Sports Festival later this year in Enugu. The elimination series featured team events in volleyball, basketball, football, beach volleyball, and cricket in male and female categories. While the team clinched only the female football ticket by topping their group, they showed dominance in three other sports by winning both the male and female tickets. Team Lagos took first position in the volleyball male and female categories. The male team defeated their counterparts from Ondo in the finals by 25-18, 24-26, 25-20, and 25-20, while the female team defeated Team Oyo by 25-18, 22-25, 28-26, 16-25, and 15-8. THE FG HAS PROHIBITED MILITARY PERSONNEL FROM ENGAGING IN ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIPS WITH THEIR SUBORDINATES OR THE SPOUSES OF THEIR SUBORDINATES. (PHOTO).

 The Federal Government has prohibited military personnel from engaging in romantic relationships with their subordinates or the spouses of their subordinates.  


Additionally, Nigerian military members are strictly forbidden from participating in homosexuality, lesbianism, bestiality, cross-dressing, and other activities deemed incompatible with the values of the armed forces.  


They are also barred from body piercing, tattooing, disorderly behavior, intoxication on or off duty, and any actions that could bring public disgrace.  


These rules are outlined in Section 26 of the updated “Harmonised Armed Forces Terms and Conditions of Service”, signed by President Bola Tinubu on December 16, 2024.  


According to the section:  

- Officers must not engage in activities related to the LGBTQIA2S+ community or cross-dressing.  

- Body piercings, tattoos, drunkenness, and public brawls are prohibited.  

- Relationships with subordinates, or with the spouses of fellow officers or subordinates, are strictly forbidden.  


Furthermore, military personnel are required to promptly fulfill financial obligations, such as vehicle licensing and insurance. Membership in secret societies or political parties is also prohibited.
